Senior Research Scientist - Senior Lead Software Engineer


I am a senior research scientist and senior lead software engineer at the Centre for Research & Technology Hellas (CERTH). In July 2013, I received my master's degree in electrical and computer engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. In September 2013, I started working as a research associate and software engineer at the Information Technologies Institute of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH/ITI) in Thessaloniki, Greece. In July 2018, I was promoted to the position of research scientist - senior lead software engineer at CERTH/ITI, where I work to this day. Since October 2016, I am a PhD candidate at the Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty of the Democritus University of Thrace, Greece.

My main research interests include high performance computing, big data analytics, machine learning, deep learning and time series forecasting. I have published scientific papers and technical reports in several prestigious peer-reviewed journals, conferences and books. My work has received 208 citations according to Google Scholar (as of November 2021). I also serve as a regular reviewer for highly prestigious scientific journals and conferences.

I have been involved in the process of designing, developing and maintaining large-scale software development projects for 8 years from the positions of software engineer, senior software engineer and senior lead software engineer. I am an ardent supporter of clean software development techniques and methodologies that focus on the design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance of clean, structured, reusable, efficient, scalable and documented software.
